Exhaustion, my entire body was riddled with exhaustion. The feeling so heavy that even as I opened my eyes I was so tempted to just shut then once more and resume my slumbering. But something pulled my attention from my tired rest, a figure off to the side moved and closed in on me. My vision, from lack of use, was blurred as I tried to clear my sight with a few hard blinks, something was different though. In fact, I felt different, a feeling within my gut told me something was wrong, something was really wrong. I needed someone, but who? My mind seemed like a jumble of memories that may or may not have been real, all I was certain of was that something within me had said my name was Ozzy. I wasn’t sure if that was correct but it was the only thing I could conjure when I tried to think.The blurred figure came close but no visible appendages were noticeable that I could see, another figure was off to the side, still blurred but a different color. AVP Fic: Predictable Behavior
It was dark.
Marines and civilians still on board had all been told it was because the Persephone's main generators had been rerouted to the engines to keep the oxygen and emergency service stations running.
But they knew better. They knew there were monsters lurking in the dark parts of the ship now.
Their fear was pungent. It drew the serpents in like sharks to blood in the water and they were all too stupid to have dispersed when the lights had shut down and the automated doors malfunctioned. The armed Marines had been separated from their charges when they had gone to scavenge whatever medical supplies they could for the wounded, leaving the maintenance workers and remaining staff trapped in the food court where they had decided to make their last stand. Two of the Marines had opted to stay behind with the others for ‘protection’, like that really served to curb the fear permeating through the entire deck they were on at that point.

They moved silently and with purpose. They all had one, singular destination in mind and nothing would stand in their way.
Through the Hive Mind, they stayed in touch as they crawled through the sprawling ventilation systems that made up the maze of their personal playground; a whole network of crawl-spaces and niches for them to slip in and out of and they knew every inch of it. There was no mistake in direction, no misstep over a loose grate, all there was and all that was needed was them and their pheromone trails.
Not a sound was made as they eventually coalesced in a main vein of the system, all falling into line like soldiers as they closed in on their target. No one had been followed farther than they had planned. All who had suspected their presence were led off their path and on a wild goose chase. They were in the clear.
They were right on top of it; their goal. The vent opened up into a crawl space above the room, allowing them to spread out and circle their means of exit. T
